Our Lady of Guadalupe is an invocation of the Virgin Mary, revered in many parts of the world, and whose principal place of worship is in the Basilica of Guadalupe in Mexico City.
Our Lady of Guadalupe appeared four times on the hill of Tepeyac to Juan Diego Cuauhtlatoatzin (now St. Juan Diego). In his fourth appearance the Virgin asked Juan Diego to visit the first bishop of Mexico and bring him roses. Juan Diego took them in his cloak, and when unfolded it before the bishop Juan de Zumarraga, what he saw was the image of tne Virgin Mary with indigenous face.
