Michelangelo's Moses

This masterpiece by Michelangelo represents Moses, a very important biblical patriarch in Judaism, Christianity and Islam.

He is seated, with the Tablets of the Law held in one hand, while with the other he caresses his beard. One of the peculiarities of this image is the horns on its head, it is assumed that the origin of such horns derives from a mistranslation of the Book of Exodus, where it is written that when Moses came down from Mount Sinai, two rays came out of his forehead.

This statue is currently in the basilica of San Pietro in Vincoli, Rome, Italy.
