St. John Bosco, much better known as Don Bosco, was a prestigious Italian priest of the 19th century, with great ability and vision as an educator of young people in need or at risk.

He founded the Salesian Congregation and wrote numerous works focused on youth education and the defense of the Catholic religion.

He was canonized in 1934 by Pope Pius XI.

His feast day is celebrated on January 31.
