Saint Leopold Mandic

Saint Leopold Mandic was born in Castelnuovo di Cattaro (now Herceg Novi, Montenegro) on May 12, 1866 and his name was Adeodato John Mandic Zarevic.

At the age of 16 he entered the Capuchin seminary in Venice (Italy), where he was given the name "Leopoldo of Castelnuovo", which he would use from then on.

During his formation he stood out for his great piety and love for prayer.

He was ordained a priest when he was 24 years old. He exercised the ministry of confessor in Padua, where he stood out for his great piety until his death on July 30, 1942.

His feast day is celebrated on May 12.
