Saint Mary Magdalene:

Mary Magdalene is mentioned several times in the New Testament and in several apocryphal gospels for having been an outstanding disciple of Jesus of Nazareth, accompanying him in his preaching and sometimes helping him financially support his ministry.

She was present at the crucifixion and burial of Jesus and was the first witness to his resurrection.

Mary Magdalene was originally from a fishing village called Magdala for which she was known as Mary of Magdala.

She is considered a saint by the Catholic Church, the Orthodox Church and the Anglican Church.

Her feast day is celebrated on July 22.
