St. Francis and the Wolf of Gubbio

This story is contained in Chapter XXI of the book "Little Flowers of St. Francis", an anonymous hagiographic work of the 14th century that narrates the life and miracles of St. Francis.

The story recounts the way and arguments used by St. Francis to tame a huge and terrible wolf that terrorized all the inhabitants of the city of Gubbio.

There is a different version of the same story, as to the ending, in a poem written by Rubén Darío and entitled: "Los motivos del lobo" (The motives of the wolf).
