St. Peter the Apostle

Simon Peter (also known as Cephas) was a fisherman from Galilee until he became one of the twelve apostles of Jesus of Nazareth, becoming one of his best-known disciples and cited in the New Testament.

One of St. Peter's best-known stories is when he denied knowing Jesus 3 times on the night he was arrested, thus fulfilling Jesus' prediction: "Truly, I tell you that tonight, before the cock crows, you you will deny me three times. "

After Jesus died, Saint Peter became the spiritual guide of the community of Christian believers in Palestine.

The name of Peter was put to him by Jesus as the "stone" on which his Church would be built.

The Catholic Church considers him the first Pope.
